Medi-Hotels Clinical Teams
From early in the Pandemic Victorian Health Authorities called on OSD.Care to provide clinical support for first the quarantine and then the Medi-Hotels. The Medi-Hotels were initially established to house return travellers with special clinical needs or who turned positive while in quarantine or who had become close contacts. The Medi-Hotels were eventually extended to providing accommodation for less serious COVID-19 cases or those that needed to be supported after being exposed.
OSD.Care recruited doctors and nurses to provide around the clock care to meet the care needs of these vulnerable groups of patients. It sourced appropriate PPE and developed scheduling approaches for the dozens of staff involved in providing care each week. Working cooperatively with hospital groups and health authorities it developed a range of care protocols and escalation pathways to optimise outcomes. It provided a mix of face to face and virtual Telehealth services as part of a 24/7 service that emphasised consistent monitoring and responsiveness that needed to meet the needs of an incredibly diverse patient population.
During the course of the Pandemic OSD.Care has provided care to tens of thousands of patients in Melbourne’s Medi-Hotels in conjunction with hospital groups and health authorities during the midst of the greatest health emergency of the past Century. The availability of the Medi-Hotels helped relieve the strain on already stretched hospital facilities.
